Bandai Namco Apologises For Shortages Of Fishing Spirits In Japan

Since launching in Japan last month, Bandai Namco’s Fishing Spirits game (Tsuri Spirits Nintendo Switch Version) has featured in the local video game charts on a regular basis. Its success has now reportedly resulted in shortages of the game across the country.

As a result, Bandai Namco has issued an apology – explaining the next shipment of physical copies will arrive in September. To date, the retail version has sold over 125k copies. Anyone wanting to catch this one sooner, rather than later, is advised to pick up an eShop copy.

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened in Japan. Square Enix was previously caught out when Octopath Traveler become a breakout success, resulting in the game selling well and selling out. It then issued an apology and also suggested the digital route.

If you haven’t heard about Fishing Spirits for Switch, it’s an adaptation of the popular arcade game, which can be seen in the video below. The task is to catch fish and earn medals. Unfortunately, though, there’s been no mention of localisation.
