Splinter Cell may come back on ‘different devices’ says Ubisoft

There have been rumors that Ubisoft is working on a new Splinter Cell game for quite some time now. However, it seems like it may not be the AAA experience everyone was expecting. In a recent interview with Gamersky, Ubisoft head Yves Guillemot said that Sam Fisher’s return may not be in a “traditional” release. It may be “some new type of experiences, but more on different devices.” GamesRadar+ first reported this.

Guillemot added, “We are working a little bit on the brand today to come back at one point. We can’t say when, because, as you know, it takes time. But each time we have to find the right experience to come back big.” From his language, it sounds like it’s going to be a mobile or virtual reality experience rathe than a third-person stealth game. Hopefully, that isn’t the case, but don’t get your hopes up for a AAA Splinter Cell game anytime soon.
