Specs are still a mystery, but according to the leaked marketing materials, which were posted to Twitter by @momomo_us, the Core i7-9750H will offer sizeable gains compared to the previous generation Core i7-8750.
I can’t read the text so I don’t know exactly what the numbers are referring to. However, doing the math, the Core i7-9750H is 28 percent faster than the Core i7-8750H in…something. It’s also 91 percent faster than the Core i7-7700HQ.
Depending on what those figures represent and whether the performance gains translate to multiple applications, Intel could have a beastly chip on its hands. It appears as though the 9th generation mobile lineup will offer a big jump in IPC performance, and of course we would expect faster clockspeeds and better power efficiency, as is usually the case from generation to generation.
MSI’s marketing materials only provide benchmarks numbers pulled from 3DMark 11, which is an older test. For what it is worth, the GeForce GTX 1650 is shown to be around 24 percent faster than the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti in 3DMark 11, and around 41 percent faster than a GeForce GTX 1050.
The marketing materials also point to several games, presumably running at 1080p, which is the laptop’s native resolution.
Assuming those are frames per second numbers, the GeForce GTX 1650 should be able to handle 60fps and higher in several titles.
As for the laptop, it will ship with 16GB of DDR4-2666 memory and a 512GB NVMe solid state drive. It is a 15.6-inch system with an IPS display, three USB 3.0 ports, a USB-C port, a mini DisplayPort, and an HDMI port.
There is no word yet on price or availability.
